The Chief
The Commane Kinfauns, Chief of Ó Comáin owns Newhall House and Estate in County Clare, Ireland, and is custodian of Killone Abbey and the Holy Well of St John the Baptist, which stand on the estate.
In 2025 Clan Ó Comáin was recognised by Clans of Ireland, under the patronage of the President of Ireland. The clan traces its descent from the kings of the Déisi of Munster and the chiefdom of Tulach Commáin, whose seat was the ring fort of Cahercommane.
He is also the xxvi baron of Kinfauns, a title in the nobility of Scotland which he succeeded in 2024. With the lordship he holds the hereditary office of admiralty of the Tay, granted by the Crown to the lords of Kinfauns and their successors. By tradition, vessels passing Kinfauns Castle lowered their colours in salute. He is known by his chiefly title and does not use the lordship title.
His interests include building conservation, hurling, Irish folklore and the Clare countryside.
